The Home and Garden Show

On Saturday, we went to the Home and Garden Show to get some ideas to landscape our front yard. I found this handy tool called the squeegy speed pro. It cleans glass without streaks. I was so excited to test it out when I got home. I decided to clean the windows outside. It cuts the time in half. You use just dish soap to clean the windows with. I was happy about the purchase. It doesn't work so well in the house, it makes a watery mess, if you get to much water on the sponge.

Hannah having a good time

If it's not one thing it's another...

Hannah came home early from school on Thursday, February 12th. She had a fever and a sore throat. She went right to bed, she was so sleepy! I took her to urgent care that night. I figured with the symptoms she probably had strep throat. The doctor wrote a prescription for Amoxicillin. She stayed home from school on Friday. She was tired and had a fever most of the weekend. By Monday, she seemed to be feeling better. After we went roller skating she was exhausted, she went to bed a couple hours earlier than normal. She slept more than 12 hours. She woke up and had a little cough. By Thursday the 19th she was sent home from school with a rash that covered her entire body. At least it wasn't itchy. I made an appointment to see Hannah's pediatrician. After a 2 hour wait, the doctor ordered for her to have some blood work done and put her on Zithromax. I went over to the lab to have her blood taken, I knew it was going to be a challenge. Hannah HATES needles. I tried bribery and other techniques to get Hannah to be brave and get her blood drawn, but nothing seemed to work. The nurse said, If I couldn't get her to hold still, we would have to come back. So Richard had to take her back the next morning. Hannah tried to hide in her room and while she was in there she wrote a note to Richard. See the note below. Hannah was brave with her daddy and did the test. So he bought her a new doll and stroller set. We are still waiting for the results.

Valentine's Day

Richard got me a box of chocolates and a cute card. He also picked up take out at BJ's for dinner. I didn't have to cook one meal on Valentine's day.
Lucky me!

The boys made me breakfast in bed. Scrambled eggs and toast and it was actually good. I didn't even have to pretend that I was enjoying every bite. My boys are so sweet.

Roller Skating

The kids had another Monday off for President's Day so we decided to go roller skating. Hannah has been sick seen Thursday, so it was nice to get out of the house. I think it might of been too much for her because she fell asleep at 7:00 p.m.

Ice Skating

Last Monday, the kids were out of school for Lincoln's birthday, so we decided to go ice skating. Kaleb is really into ice hockey. He wants to go to all the Condor's Hockey games and wants to learn how to play the game. I guess you have to start with the basics if you want to be an ice hockey player, you must learn how to ice skate. We had a good time, but ice skating hurts your ankles and leaves bruises on them .

Sleep Deprived...

I'm usually one who likes to stay up late, but when your trying to keep a 7 year old awake for a couple of hours past their bedtime, you get tired. Hannah was scheduled to have an EEG on Friday, January 23rd to measure her brain activity. In order for the test to work, she had to be sleep deprived, so that she would sleep during the test. Meaning she had to stay up a couple up hours past her usual bedtime and then wake up at 4:00 in the morning and stay awake until her appointment time at 10:00 a.m. This was not the easiest task. What do you do at 4:00 in the morning to keep a 7 year old from falling back asleep, but at the same time be quiet enough not to wake 3 other sleeping beauties. If you try and watch a movie or play a game, you fall asleep. I'm not sure how, but we both managed to stay awake. Richard and I took her to the doctor's office. We waited for the technician to call us back to the room. When she came to get us, she informed us that the room was small and only one parent could go. So, I gave Richard the camera and told him to take pictures for me. Hannah is not a fan of going to the doctor's, she usually throws a fit or starts to cry. It didn't help that the night before Kaleb told her that she was going to get a big shot and the doctor was going to cut open her brain. So that's why I let Richard go back to the room with her, she doesn't throw a fit as much with him around. About 45 minutes later Richard and Hannah were back in the waiting room. They tried to trick me and they said, Hannah is going to have to come back to retest because she didn't fall asleep. But, that wasn't the case. I don't know how, but she fell asleep a soon as the nurse put the funny looking cap on her head. I really didn't think she would fall asleep that quick. She must of been tired. Today, February 3rd, I took Hannah to the neurologist to review the results of the EEG. After waiting for almost two hours to be seen by the nurse practitioner, I feel like we still got nowhere. The doctor still never ordered the first CT scan to compare with the second CT scan to see the difference in the amount of fluid in her brain. She said the results for the EEG came back abnormal, but it could be a number of things and maybe not even related to the head injury. Why do I have to pay for all these test if they really don't answer any of my concerns. I need some clarity! But, I am thankful that Hannah is doing well. I think she is perfectly normal and healthy, I just want the tests to tell me the same thing! Hannah will have a follow-up appointment in 2 months. Hopefully this will be the last one.

Hannah waiting nervously

I am smarter than a 5th grader

Waiting until the last minute isn't always the best idea. My son Kaleb is a procrastinator, I think he knows I will always step in and solve his problems. Last week Kaleb's science fair project was due, we have known about it for over a month, but why does it always seem like I'm the only one up past midnight the night before a project is due. My husbands says I should stop doing everything for the kids. Anyway he (I)(okay, we (team effort) got first place in the science fair. I guess I still know a thing or two.

Kaleb got 1st place in the 5th grade Science Fair.

Kaleb's told me it's all about presentation, It doesn't matter if my board looks good or not.

Gee... thanks Kaleb, I get no credit at all!

No Late Fees For Me...

I just saved myself $4.00. I was about to update my blog, while looking at the calendar, when I realized Hannah's library books were due today. The last time we were at the library she checked out 16 books. It is a quarter a day for each book that is overdue. Thankful, I remembered. Did you know that you can renew your books online, even at 11:00 at night? No Late Fees for me...
