Girl's Getaway

Thursday the 16th of July I left for Las Vegas for our annual girl's trip. I picked up my mom and we started on our 4 plus hour journey to Las Vegas. My mom read to me, we laughed, and chatted; honestly the time went by way too fast. We arrived Thursday night and met Megan, Chris, Mary, Kalena, and Lizzy at U-Swirl (a frozen yogurt place) for a treat. We spent the night at Megan's in Henderson. On Friday Chris and Megan made us breakfast and then we began our day with shopping. Later in the afternoon we picked up my sister Kenzie and my sister-in-law Melissa at the airport. We checked into our hotel room at the Paris and then grabbed a bite to eat. We stayed up late playing a card game called sequence. On Saturday we lounged around the pool almost all day. Later we got ready to go see Phantom of the Opera. The mood went sour and our fun was cut short when my sister Kenzie got a phone call from her husband stating that her son Mckay was on his way to children's Hospital in an ambulance because he broke his arm on the trampoline (a purchase they made three days prior). Apparently it was a severe break and he ended up having to have surgery the next day which required pins in his arm. Poor little guy, good thing it was his left arm since he is right handed and starts kindergarten next week. Needless to say Kenzie was up half the night trying to find an earlier flight home to be with her family. We did manage to get her to come out and go dancing with us for a little bit. We woke up early on Sunday morning and took Kenzie and Melissa to the airport around 6:00 a.m. Then my mom and I drove home.

Newport Beach Weekend Getaway

On Friday July 10th we (the kids and I) headed to the beach for the weekend with my sister Megan, her two daughters, my parents, Mary and her grandchildren. I booked our hotel through Priceline and got a really good deal more than half off the regular price. The hotel we stayed at was perfect for families. They had fun activities planned the whole weekend for the kiddos and best of all the activities were FREE!

On Saturday morning we went to the beach. It took me almost an hour to find a parking spot and the beach was so crowed.

After spending a few hours at the beach we went back to the hotel and the kids played games, went swimming and made a sun visor. Later the kids coordinator brought out bean bags and read them stories. At dusk we watched Hotel for Dog on a big screen by the pool.

We left our little bit of Paradise on Sunday morning! It's definitely a place I want to go back to.
