Oh, how I dread doing science fair projects. Just the thought of them and I get completely overwhelmed. But, I realized this year, working in a fifth grade classroom and watching 30 kids demonstrate their science projects to the class; how simple and fun a science fair project can be. So yesterday after my trip to the art museum; Kaleb and I started working on his science fair project. Richard found this great idea online about air power for transportation. Check out the action below. Kaleb did have one complaint after blowing up 27 balloons, he felt a little dizzy and light headed.

Our "Ewe Gross" moment for the month
Yesterday, I took the cub scouts to the Bakersfield Museum of Art. We have been working on earning the artist belt loop and the Webelos artist pin this past month, so I thought it would be a good idea to go visit the Bakersfield Museum of Art. The museum is quite small with only 3 galleries. We had looked at two of the galleries and then came to the third gallery, which I took one peek and knew we should turn around. But, not quick enough! I knew the scouts had already noticed why I was so eager to leave with their comments, ewe gross, yuck. I felt so embarrassed. This was not the type of art I wanted to expose my scouts too. I think they should of warned us when we entered the museum that some rooms might not be appropriate for children. I thought this would be a great field trip, my children have gone before with their schoolmates. Next time I'll double check to make sure what they will be displaying before I go. I do want to apologize to my scouts and their parents.

Happy New Year
For the last three years we have been able to go to my parents home in Cedar City, Utah to celebrate New Year's Eve with family. We left Monday morning and drove to St. George, Utah to spend the night with my sister Megan. On Tuesday morning I left the kids with Richard and my brother Jeremy to go to Tai Pan. I have waited a whole year to use my gift card my husband bought me the year before. He told me to make my trip to Tai Pan snappy! Does he know how big the store is, you can't even look at the whole store in an hour. Later that day, my sister took me to her hairdresser and I got my hair cut for $10.00. That is too cheap! That night we drove to Cedar City. We enjoyed the next three days playing in the snow, sledding, having snowball fights, eating, singing with the karaoke machine, playing are you smarter than a 5th grader, polishing our nails (thanks Kenzie), and riding around in a Rhino (courtesy of Doug). We left Friday afternoon and sat in Las Vegas traffic for a couple of hours. When we arrived home, I had a pleasant surprise. The cargo bag on top of our car ripped, needless to say it was raining on our way home and my brand new luggage set my parents had bought me for Christmas was soaking wet. I was sure all the clothes inside were going to be a shade of pink since the luggage was red, but it only turned a couple of Richard's socks pink. But the clothes all had to be washed because they were soaking wet. I was so excited to unload my bags from Tai Pan, by my enthusiasm soon dwindled away when I realized a couple of plates I had purchased were chipped and a candle stick holder had broken into more pieces than I could glue back together. I realized I could still use the plates as decorative items above the cabinets in my kitchen and I used a little greenery to hide the broken pieces.

Christmas Morning...
Christmas morning I was awaken by Hannah jumping on my bed, saying Mom, Santa came and he brought me a hockey stick. I didn't want to disappoint her right away, so I didn't respond. But, she found out soon enough when I told her to look closely at the name on the hockey stick, it was Kaleb's. Nothing sets the mood for a wonderful Christmas morning like the tears of your child because they didn't receive what they wanted. Can I ever win! Her list to Santa must of changed hundred times from the beginning of December to Christmas Eve. She calmed down a bit to open her pile of gifts, but hid behind the Christmas tree to open them, she was still a little ticked off at Santa because after all he should know what she wanted. Hannah asked me how come Santa ate all the cookies, but didn't see my note right next to the cookies, saying I WANT A HOCKEY STICK! Don't you just love it when your child changes their mind on Christmas Eve. Anyways, she's a girl, she should like girl stuff! Right! Later in the afternoon we went to Nelda's for dinner and then went to visit my parents.
