Yesterday, I took the cub scouts to the Bakersfield Museum of Art. We have been working on earning the artist belt loop and the Webelos artist pin this past month, so I thought it would be a good idea to go visit the Bakersfield Museum of Art. The museum is quite small with only 3 galleries. We had looked at two of the galleries and then came to the third gallery, which I took one peek and knew we should turn around. But, not quick enough! I knew the scouts had already noticed why I was so eager to leave with their comments, ewe gross, yuck. I felt so embarrassed. This was not the type of art I wanted to expose my scouts too. I think they should of warned us when we entered the museum that some rooms might not be appropriate for children. I thought this would be a great field trip, my children have gone before with their schoolmates. Next time I'll double check to make sure what they will be displaying before I go. I do want to apologize to my scouts and their parents.
